Alter Service Master Key
To alter a service master key
· Select the server to alter a service master key in the object explorer
· Right-click the selected server
· Select 'Service Key -> Alter'
The 'Alter Service Master Key' dialog will open.
Enable decryption while SQL Server is running as new service account
· Select the Enable new service account page from the page selector window.
· Enter the old account name in the Old Account property in the right window.
· Enter the old account password in the Old Password property in the right window.
· Click OK.
Enable decryption while SQL Server is running as old service account
· Select the Enable old service account page from the page selector window.
· Enter the new account name in the New Account property in the right window.
· Enter the new account password in the New Password property in the right window.
· Click OK.
Regenerate Key
· Select the Regenerate key page from the page selector window.
· Set the force option to either True or False in the right window
· Click OK.
